To be fair though, a fiskars in a post apocalyptic setting would probably last longer than something with a hickory handle as long it doesn't break. I would recommend reinforcing the neck closer to the head with strong fiber glass.
But if OP is just looking for a good medium sized axe/hatchet, gransfors bruks makes the best. You could get a fiskars, but the hold up there is that if the handle break you'll never be able to remount the head, they are unfixable.
As long as you aren't abusing the handle, a hickory handle will last for a pretty damn long time. That and it will be much easier to sharpen a GB axe than a fiskars. I have handled one, and yeah, they do an OK job cutting, but there is nothing so great about them that it wouldn't just make more since to have a superior axe like a GB, a wetterling, or the like.
