>>2749007I stopped back into the fly shop today. I bought some more flies. I talked with one of the guys working there and told him where I was fishing and that I was new to fly fishing. He said he knew the spot well and pointed me to a couple flies that should do very well there. It's the two larger, fuzzy black ones. He said they're their best seller. I also bought a couple stonefly nymphs that looked like one I've seen before. I'm planning on heading back tomorrow morning for a second attempt. Planning on doing some practice casts before I tie a fly on to work on the stop at the end. Get some muscle memory built. I think I'll practice in my backyard without line this afternoon too. I'll also add some splitshot to get it down where it needs to be. Can I use 4-6lb fluorocarbon as a leader? Or will that put the fly in the wrong spot?
