I had to think for a minute... usually, these days when I go camping by myself, I'm extra careful and trips just don't head south. Solo camping means minimizing risks dramatically, planning every step meticulously, and never getting my insulation wet or allowing myself to get worn out enough to get sick while outdoors. When I think back to my time in the Boy Scouts, I can't believe some of the shit we got away with...
>multiple times camping in late fall and winter while sick, no fucks given
>bringing sheets from my bed to keep warm in a tent in sub-freezing temperatures
>jumping into rivers, ponds and lakes while there's snow on the ground
>letting myself get dehydrated in hot weather
>sleeping outside of the tent in my sleeping bag and get rained on on the first night, still have two days left before the trip is over
And more recently...
>bringing a kind of dehydrated food I'd never tried before on a trip and getting diarrhea as a result
>climbing a mountain in early spring and post-holing up to my armpits multiple times, could barely get myself out
Granted, most of those things were fun.
