>>1700120>I don't know how you could possibly come to a different conclusion.Thats easy- The SN are small- only 400 miles long and 65 miles wide whereas the Rockies span 1900 miles from BC to the Rio Grande and 100s of miles wide. The Rockies have a much wider range of fauna from Grizzly bears to Wolves to Bison, Elk, Moose, Mountain Goats...They have a much wider range of geologic features and proccess involved in their creation resulting in some of the oldest rocks in N. America being exposed...and island ranges being separated by broad river valleys...with Mts literally rising right out of the Great Plains
The SN, while scenic and full of recreational opportunities, are devoid of any real wilderness as the apex predators have been extirpitated leaving only a denuded "wilderness" where every nook and cranny has been thoroughly examined and explored by man looking for gold...and any remotely promising spot blasted by hydrolic mining. The Rockies has some of the most pristine wilderness in the lower 48 states.
The SN just cant compete with the Rockies depth and breadth of natural features and experience.
