+1 for a real motorcycle. A dirt bike with a license plate can really get you into the sticks, outfit it with saddlebags or cram a few days worth of shit into a pack and head out.
Last weekend was a 270-something mile weekend, hit the highway on teh way back because my clutch quit working (return spring in the master cylinder came out in 4 pieces, and a bearing failure last september caught a bunch of shit between teh slave cylinder/piston, gouging the fuck out of the cylinder wall).
Got parts in friday night, headed innawoods (truck'd it this time), fixed the bike saturday morning, 3 miles in a buddy wipes out and busts his collarbone. Off to the ER we go...
