>>2318995Alright this is for South Jersey only. I've lived here my whole life so I feel I can give some good recommendations.
First off, Forsythe NWR is a really great place to see. Has a huge land-strip you can drive on and see the skyline of Atlantic City and the great geography of the salt marsh.
Estell Manor Park is a great walk. Has a nice flat boardwalk thats a few miles long with good history and ruins.
Down near Cape May Courthouse there is not only the Cape May Zoo (free to visit, huge, and tons of cool animals) but also many "swamp preserves/nature trails". You can just Google a few but the most popular ones are Lizard Trail and Elephant Trail.
You can go on a nice canoe trip down many of the nice long runs leading into Lake Lenape. There are tons of spots to rent from.
Pine Barrens has some really interesting mix of swampland and almost like a bush-type geography with tons of deer.
There's great birding and really at any given time of the year, provided you have the time, you can wait around to see some really beautiful ones at most of the popular areas.
Also, the Great Egg Harbor river is fucking huge and dangerous (fast currents on the bottom) so definitely don't swim in it, but there are great spots scattered all along it where you can get a nice view of the huge fields of wild rice, Spartina, Parker's pipewort, etc.
Really there's some great places and lakes down here. Pretty much an endless supply of cool places to see if you're into wildlife and nature.
