Lads, I need some help. This year I decided to start growing some edible plants (I've only ever grown succulents and taken care of citruses), and I have no idea how to deal with common problems. I'd really like to avoid using pesticides or chemicals of any kind.
Anyway, the problem I'm having is I've found these on the leaves of my plants. From what I can tell these are called "striped armyworms". I'm growing 3 sweet potato plants and maybe a dozen green onions from clippings (slips from the potatoes, white part of the green onions, both sourced from the store). I used to just grow green onions and never had pest problems, but with the sweet potato plants I've gotten a bunch of insects. Maybe it's the more humid weather this year, don't know. A few weeks ago, I found 3, tossed them in the rocks out back so the geckos would hopefully eat them. Now I've found seven. My plants are already looking a little lacy. What do I do?
