American chestnuts grow way taller than Chinese and are fast growing, in fact, it was one of the fastest growing trees on the east coast. The rate was something crazy like 2' a year. Even the hybrids cant beat that. I know that there's a very good chance they'll die if I grow them, but I know they can make it long enough to fruit. Plus, you never know, you may end up with a resistant 100% American chestnut.
