Arguably our standard of living as qualified by subjective measures like happiness, stress, fulfillment, etc (vs GDP, availability of widgets and baubles, and so on) would increase would we return to the pace of existence for which our brains grew to be wired over millenia of relative consistency prior to cracking the nut of artificial fertilizers and fossil fuel usage. Conversely, there is an increasing trend of selling decreasing quality of life and equally or more destructive alt-products as a consumptive identity to those with enough inkling to know something is wrong, but are not sure how or why or by whom these wrongs have been committed
