I live just up the road from you in Lancaster, heading up to Blencathra with a mate tomorrow night for a short walk and wild camp. You're welcome to join us! Wild camping is mostly done up on the fell tops so that's what we'll be doing.
As for forested areas, Ennerdale Forest looks like the best place to go in the Lakes. Not sure if it's what you want though because I've never been, there's a chance it could be more like Grizedale Forest which is definitely not what you want: nature trails and tourists and ramblers.
Not sure about fires anywhere in the Lakes, looks like you can't ever get more than a few hundred meters from a track in Ennerdale Forest for example. Probably much easier to find a suitable spot in Scotland.
