>>937449You'd be surprised by the amount of history we have here in the UK. I only started actually looking at the history of places I walk about half a year ago and since then I've found out so much about the history of local areas and places more further abroad.
There are plenty of books about different parts of the UK and it's history that you can read and go to those locations, either in tours (if that spot has it) or just walk it yourself.
What I personally like to do is look in Ordinance Survey maps for any possible or definite historic sites (anything from Tummuli to ancient burial ground), look around the area and try and build a picture in my head of the area and guess or hypothesise the age and then head back home and read up on it either online or in a book.
We've got quite a long and varied history in Britain and a lot of it is intact or at least protected due to how damn charming and beautiful we are as people.
