Walking Kungsleden right now.
Overexerted my Achilles, happened a year ago too so I'm taking a few days off in Ammarnäs to let it heal.
It's pretty nice so far, been a cold summer so the mosquitos and gnats have been reasonable and there's a lot more snow than usual.
The duckboards are maybe <5% of the trail I've walked so far and I've been happy to have them considering some of the places I've sunk calf deep in the mud.
There's 2 types of trail here, cabin trail and camping trail; cabin trails have a well supplied cabin with loads of beds (minimum 12) with a cabin warden and store (they even have fucking beer if you can believe it) food is overpriced but nothing too outrageous considering the work it takes to haul supplies out there by snow mobiles and helicopter. The cabins are within a days walk for someone with little to no experience (12-20km) and cost about 35$ a night.
The next leg I'm doing is 75km before a resupply point and then another 80km until the one after that in Kvikkjokk. I've met a few people who are doing Kungsleden but taking a bus to avoid the camping sections, reasonable if they're not used to carrying camping equipment or just don't feel like it.
Mailing 3-4kg of stuff I'm not using home to hopefully spare my Achilles for the rest of the trail.
Views can be really spectacular sometimes.
