>>1060589It sucks in the summer. Best bet is dawn or dusk, find the dropoffs. Best route is finding a patch of weeds with a dropoff just past it. The decent sized bass like to hit it right at sunset as I'm coming from the deep part up to the edge of the weeds.
Only problem doing that is you better have some strong line and it helps to run something weedless. The spot I do that at, there is a thick weed bed that goes out maybe 40', then drops off. So I launch something out as far as I can, and then when I get back to the weeds I just start reeling fast and bring the lure back across the top so I can cast again. Nothing big is ever in the weeds, they lurk outside on the deep end waiting for a meal to come out of the cover. But when you hook a fish, you still have to bring it back through the weeds to land it.
