>>519471This is probably true. Also, you would want to minimize your pack height to make it easier to carry a helmet over it and have a lower profile. Nowadays with MOLLE on everything you can make your pack on a plate carrier and all you put on is what you want it to be. Before that, height was your enemy. It's hard to hide if you can't see your HEAD as the top of the body. Having a foot of pack on top of it like in
>>519468 makes for a good headshot. Also you can't crawl as well if your pack prevents you from looking up.
Now look at my pic. If you have the pack in the OP, you have no problem having the butt-pack underneath, or perhaps a parachute (Naked Snake - the guy in the pic - actually had a chute on top of his butt-pack). If you have the hiking pack, good luck putting anything on the back of your belt.
