If you go backpacking and dayhiking in 2019 it's 99.9% of the time someplace where you're basically living out a larping fantasy of some kind, as we no longer live on any real frontier and thus utility is no longer the sole driving force for why we wear what we wear. Everyone is wearing and using what they do out of a self image and little fantasy, which is fine, just tells the shit heads that give you grief over what you wear that they need to wake up and realize that whether they're wearing a kilt, MilSurp, cheap or expensive, jeans, whatever, it's all essentially luxury and fashion choice.
