I'm pretty bad at identifying--especially when the leaves haven't come in.
However, it is very neat to pay attention to the different plants. You start to realize that there are totally varied ecosystems and micro-climates within your area.
I mostly just know about oak, maple, black birch, grey birch, white pine, and ash. There are many deciduous and evergreens that I'll probably always be confused about.
