I want to buy all my gear from now on from Crappy Tire and Thrift Stores.
The worst part of Canadian Tire's camping selection is the sleeping bags and tents. It's all car camping tents and pretty bad sleeping bags.
They sell a lot of budget gear that's just fine if you aren't ultra-lighting though.

Their brands Woods and Outbound are pretty shit, but have some gems
Woods used to be a more than decent brand so every now and then they'll make something good.
They used to sell the really good Coleman gas lanterns until recently.
If you talk to the people there you can return just about anything.
I've camped and been camping quite a bit, I plan on downgrading from some MEC tier gear to Canadian Tier gear.

I want to show people you don't need to blow $1k on gear to get into camping.

They fold small, are seam sealed, and are very inexpensive compared to other backpacking tarps.

From what I have experienced so far she is indeed a good tent.
Almost too good.
I want to try a tarp + bedroll setup next, or maybe something more cowboy. Luckily my apartment has a little yard that I can try stuff out on.

I remember Rin's Gpa on the Triumph used a tarp + cot setup that looked really interesting.
Now I just need to learn how to cook better.

Seems to be bivy vs canvas bedroll. I think a canvas bedroll would be pretty sweet because of how durable and breathable canvas is, but of course it's very pricey. I like bivy sacks because some like the Outdoor research Alpine has a bug screen.
I'm also quite poor right now, should I just find some Tyvek and trying making a bivy out of that?
Does anyone here have a canvas bedroll? What's your experience with it? Weight isn't much of an issue, but space might be.

Here you can see the $24 tarp I got from Canadian Tier (2x3m, stupid lime green) and the sleeping pad inside. It would be fine for light rain, but for any heavier I want more protection for the sleeping bag.
