The only time I came close to losing was with the cougar, and if the dock hadn't been there I would've most likely gotten killed in the lake. After having to outrun the moose I took up cardio, and swimming, since I thought it would be the best thing to prepare myself for having to get my ass into a lake and away from the animal in question. Quite frankly, If there hadn't been a dock, I doubt I would've been able to swim far enough to discourage the damn cougar, but the whole diving underwater and swimming a good 15-20 meters before surfacing helped out immensely, which was apparent when I surfaced and saw the cougar pacing back and forth, presumably waiting for me to swim back that way. Those fuckers are smart and fast as fuck, you don't want to be the one trying to outrun them, i can tell you that for goddamn certain.
