>>2363641Yea no shit you need a "level" of ambient light but that doesn't mean it's unsafe to hike in the woods with night vision. And even when/if you find yourself in a situation with not enough ambient light to navigate around stuff you can use an ir light (and a pvs-14 has one built in, others do not) to see better. Now if you have an old gen 2 tube or worse, that's an entirely different story. It would probably be very difficult or impossible with overhead cover and no moonlight with a cheap intensifier tube. But not many people nowadays buy those things anymore.
