Months ago I started a bunch of pepper seeds, but due to trouble germinating them, they all got mixed up before they could sprout. So I have three dozen plants, and about 2/3 of them have been re-potted into cottage cheese tubs, the rest still in 5oz cups.
Today is the first flower from any of them, which is a big thing, because I really can't tell which is which until they start making peppers. I had poblano seeds (from a pepper dropped in a mexican restaurant parking lot one morning), cayenne (from a "grow your own peppers" kit), and peqin (from a wild plant a few years ago where most of the wild ones are tepin). And then I germinated some serrano seeds, but some latent seeds in the tray decided to grow too. So there's no fucking idea what each plant will be, because their leaves look all the fucking same.
The only clue is this flower is yellow, while all my wild tepins have white flowers. But I knew it wasn't a tepin because I didn't have any seeds for it.
At least I've got something going this year. Last year I had at least a pint of tepin peppers, but this year almost none thanks to the heat wave.
