Cold as fuck in the winter, hot and humid in the summer, no mountains, terrible mosquitoes, shallow warm lakes where the fish taste like shit, chocolate milk rivers often because it rains so much and the soil is muddy rather than rocky, no elk, hardly any state land at all in the bottom 2/3 making all the hunters have to hunt in tiny wildlife management areas where you're literally within 150 yards of another hunter at all times... yeah OP's image is pretty spot on. I grew up in Minnesota and it fucking sucked dick. I remember the first time I went to Montana to visit my grandparents and I was fucking blown away.
