Pic related is at the base of Desert peak, high point of the Newfoundland Mountains in the West Desert. It takes 70 miles of rough dirt road driving to get to this spot. The mountain itself sticks up from the Salt Flats, offering 360 views for 20+ miles in each direction. From the time my brother and I left pavement until we got back on asphalt we didn't see another person. Log book on top of the mountain indicates less than 9 summits a year. We were the first ones up in two months. We couldn't see anyone from the top of the mountain either. Completely alone.
