Plont is right about Europe though. Front yards are usually meant to be decorative or "representative" and in a lot of places only the old have crops there. (the rented plot thing is BS, you rent if you don't own property, not to outsource your crops)
But its bullshit to fight over this, there is literally nothing wrong with growing veggies in your own garden. There are so many ways in doing this, there is no right or wrong.
I for example have my crops behind the house and the front has only decorative plantings* (although they serve a purpose: Sitting in my garden to BBQ or play poker or to read is maximum comfy).
Some fruit and veggie plants are very decorative. Like cherry trees, some peppers (Bolivian Rainbow, Numex Twilight), etc.
Don't tell me pic related wouldn't look awesome in even the most ornamental garden!
