Laws of physics still apply; 4x4 just means all four wheels spin. It can be handy in loose-traction situations.
Gearing and transmission ratio's also a thing. Motor has to be able to produce usable torque/hp and get it to the ground in a manner that's controllable.
Best thing you can do, regardless of the number of driven axles, is put good tires on it.
