The Ozarks are where you want to be. Preferably on the OK side of the border, AR side gets a little hairy.
If you're going to be in the state or national park you need to be ARMED. There are tweaker cook cabins out there and definitely it's a place where some of the gypsies in the SE part of the state hide out sometimes.
If you can, you want to stay around the reservoir in Broken Bow of stay on one of the WMAs like Honobia or Three Rivers. MUCH safer for an overnight camper, however you might want to wait until spring, bow season doesn't end until Jan 15 and being out there without hunter orange is very dangerous. Crashing through the brush, you sound like a medium sized buck who just doesn't give a shit, a thing that happens quite often near dawn and dusk.
