Tomatoes and stuff won't set fruit if it's too hot too. However that was my mistake because it seems like the general consensus around here is go full sun, bum rush your plants to July to get a harvest. Then replant in August and get a second harvest by the end of November. Even the sunniest part (a tiny sliver) of my yard gets maybe 7 hours if I am lucky.
So TLDR I'm in shade and I will be stuck to slow growers. I will build 3 more beds in the sunny part of the yard and try for a late summer planting. Each 4x8' bed with compost and piping costs me ~$70-80.
