Some cows hanging out along the Smith river.
>>193530Like my mileage, my diet changed when I was on my own as opposed to with the group.
On my own, I ate humble dinners of beans and rice, lentils, quinoa or mac and cheese. For lunch, tortillas with peanut butter and whatever I had on hand to throw on top of it. For breakfast, either oatmeal, or granola and milk if a convenience store was nearby to sell me a pint the evening before.
With the other folks, I ate at restaurants more often, and we cooked fairly elaborate meals, because we had 4 people to eat the food. I also ate meat. I'm generally a vegetarian, but I don't have any qualms about eating meat if it makes things more convenient. Breakfasts and lunches were the same.
>>193533A bit under $2000. The vast majority of this was food. On my own, I stealth camped every night I wasn't in a National Park, and rarely bought meals. I also only paid $100 for transportation to/from the start of the trip, which might be a large expense for others.
