>>1408541how poor is poorfag? if you can pull together $150 there are some great tents that will last a long time. a few factors i look for
>freestandingeasier and faster to pitch on a variety of surfaces
>2 personmore room if you're solo, and versatility to bring a second if you want
>2 doorssignificantly improves the experience when there are 2 people
>double wallso you can have the fly on when there's rain, and off when there's not to enjoy a view and ventilation, and it helps with condensation.
>no heavier than 5.5 lbskind of an arbitrary cutoff, but more weight equals more bulk and less comfortable to carry
>minimum peak height 39"you want to be able to sit up without hitting the roof. this one's a bit height dependent; i'm 6', so ymmv.
and finally, if you get a less expensive tent it will probably have a floor made of material around 70d. if so DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A FOOTPRINT. seriously, it won't need it. i have probably 90-100 days of sleeping on coarse, rocky granite sand and gravel in my tent and you can't even tell. just move really sharp looking rocks and sticks and you'll be fine.
