>>1433607I think the Flemish Giants are a poor rabbit to raise for meat. They are great for larger pelts though. They simply take way too long to reach maturity. I think they are better as pets than anything really. One of the best breeds for meat is the New Zealand rabbit. It is funny how all the best breeds for raising commercial meat are usually white. White turkeys (Broad Breasted White), white rabbits (New Zealand), white ducks (American Pekin), white geese (Embden,) and white chickens (Cornish X Rock). Even the new giant guinea pig (Cuy mejorados) breeds are starting to turn all white. Though, browns and brown-white make up the bulk. The big exception are beef cattle, where Black Angus is the most popular. Though, Charolais is one of the popular ones, but its popularity doesn't even compare.
