The enjoyment I, and I assume most people, get from it, isn't the vistas, it's continually challenging yourself.
You have to continually ramp of difficulty and it becomes a really fulfilling hobby.
It's a war with elements, and in the moments that you're not sure you'll win, it becomes exciting. You need to approach the line of feeling unsafe, and pitch your proverbial tent on it.
