In remote areas the only "dog" you'll see are these little guys which keep the population of everything else down. Also horses/wild cattle and other wolves already adapted to the wild fuck their shit up. Dogs are very inbred here, you will not find many compatible breeds that can just form a pack in the wild and wolves only hunt them. Imagine a little chiwawa or a shiatsu trying to make its way through the wild. Things can barely even fucking see and would get trampled on by mistake. The bigger dogs can be a problem though, in the most obvious places that breed them/mistreat them obviously.
The only thing dogs have going for them is they can eat just about anything and can smell really good/may travel in packs. But so can boars lol and those are a bigger problem then dogs ever will be.
