>>2392760Well, if you can get a hive set up and they get it all situated nicely with plenty of honey stores for when it gets cold, then they should be okay to last the winter. I keep a feeder box on the top of mine that I regularly fill with sugar water to help them out and give them an extra source of food, so hopefully this hive does nicely.
Honestly, I'd recommend it even if you don't plan to actually get honey from it, even giving them a solid hive to work from and eventually create a swarm during the spring and expanding the honeybee population.
