Hammocks are extremely comfortable. I doubt most of the dissenters went out, bought a nice $250 hammock, camped in it for a whole weekend, then decided they hated it. Every friend I've loaned mine to flopped around at first, said it felt awkward etc. until they actually spent a night in it, then they understand.
If you enter from below, like a Hennessey, you can just roll over, open the bottom and take a leak in the middle of the night without even exiting the hammock.
I'm always amazed at the religious devotion to what amounts to sleeping on a prison mattress on uneven, lumpy-at-best ground.
