In easyish going terrain I tend to stick to using a wind jacket and an umbrella. If it's more technical or exposed but I'm not expecting loads of rain then I'll use something cheap like a frogs toggs. But it's harsh conditions, cold, and a lot of rain I'll go with a three layer gortex. My gortex is on it's way out though so I'm thinking about what to replace it with. Either columbia outdoor stuff, or whatever it's called, the zpacks jacket, it has crazy good stats. Or I'll go all out and get the HMG meme jacket.
