You won't learn anything of value, evangelical Protestantism is the McDonalds of faith, completely devoid of sense, sincerity, and integrity. The importance of personal reading of the bible is also a very Prot thing, and I feel like it will leave you pretty disappointed in terms of learning about Christianity. Getting a good history book on the church would probably be a lot more enlightening, as the theology and tradition developed from centuries of debates, conflict, philosophy, etc.
If you want to actually learn about Christian traditions try talking to some Catholics and maybe one day going to some actual pilgrimage route in Europe or something. Better than having a heart attack on the side of an interstate walking across South Dakota.
