I'm in the north east US, I germinate them last week of April, get nice little white roots growing, then I put them in starter trays or biodegradable plant containers. By 1st or second week of May it's safe enough to leave outside (be careful though)
Then I put them in the ground mid may and let them run till mid September, or sooner if they are golden brown. I do two groups, an early group, which I told you about, then later group which I put in the ground first week of June and they run till late Sept.
Then I store them in the basement and eat tasty squash all the way until Easter.
