>bump for question to anyone who's ridden with a trailer
I recently got a medium size breed puppy who is about 3mo old. I've been backpacking with big dogs many years but I live in the desert southwest and it's just simply too hot for the puppy during the day. I have a touring MTB and am considering buying a lightish trailer (pic related) for doggo. I've rode a friends bike with a loaded trailer and it kind of sucked going uphill. Should I try a trailer or just sell my bike and backpack in the morning and early evening when it's cooler, with a siesta during the middle of day?
I'd rather have the bike carry my gear for me since I'll have to take extra water and dog food but damn I can't tell if it would actually be easier. I'm not really concerned with distance traveled per day, but having a trailer would eliminate the chance of hitching a ride or taking a bus when the opportunity presents itself...
Anyone with trailer experience have any thoughts?
