>>1624240They are situational. But in the right enviroment they are awesome. I hike with one in places I don't expect much wind but a lot of drizzle. A wind jacket+umbrella can be a much better option than a full blown rain jacket in some places. That's the set up I hiked 1/2 the AT with.
If you're somewhere exposed with a lot of sun then they make all the difference as well.
