>>195906Fellow Dane reporting in. I was in Algonquin around 1 st of october a couple of years ago. Canoing with a friend for 6 days. It was great.
We rented a car and drove from Ottawa to Algonquin and rented a canoe. There is really no reason for hiking in Algonquin. It is all about canoing. The prettiest colours are in the southern part of the park because the northern has more pine and spruce and the souther more hardwood.
If you rent a lightweight canoe (they are more expensive. We used kevlar) you can carry the canoe along with a backpack for a few kilometers so you dont't have to go back and forth. You can also get lifts from canoe taxis who boat you and your canoe 20 km through the first lake.
Notice that you have to let the park authorities know at what lake you will be sleeping every night and there is a fee for sleeping in the park. Around 11 dollars if my menory serve me well.
Ask away if you have any other questions.
Pic very much related.
