I remember reading some guide written in the 1800s by a hiker about ultralight gear, the guy had 10lbs worth of wool shirts, a small skillet, a simple knife, minimalist boots, simple rations etc and even back then he was gearfagging and laughing at the LARPers with their 1kg boots and huge packs with everything and the kitchen sink in it
