I've been wondering if such a system would be good for Kratky since you can feed many small containers from one massive container doing that. Figuring out how to maintain root exposure over time might be a problem to be solved with some floating valve or other. I'm trying to think of a non-electrical solution to that. Maybe a mechanism that lowers in the main tank and lowers the valve inlet for the smaller containers at the same time at a specific rate. Then the roots stay properly in/out of the water as needed over time.
For vacationing though, just a higher, larger container(s) with siphon hose taped to a certain level in the growing containers would be enough without any special mechanisms. Pic for that one.
