Have a bump, OP, for I too am planning on my first personally owned tent purchase, and I too know very little of what goes into the makings of a good, solid tent.
This is the one I'm looking at here

I am just worried because of the whole "too good to be true" shit. There has to be a tradeoff somewhere.
