I actually just got back from a moto trip with my dad up to Mammoth lakes. About 1000 miles in total on my 1991 Suzuki dr350. No dirt because my dad doesn't ride dirt and we also stayed in hotels because my dad is old and likes to be comfy but it was a great experience anyway riding around the eastern sierras with my dad. It sucks trying to kickstart an old bike when it's 30 degrees in the morning and you're at 7000ft above sea level. I mounted these continental twinduro tires on my bike specifically for this trip and they did really good in the canyons. FYI people will unironically give these tires away for free because they are so bad in the dirt and i think KTM dual sports come stock with them.
>>2345673I can actually agree with this anon that knobs on the street are fine as long as you're not trying to carve canyons and they will last okay if you stay off the freeways and go easy on the throttle when you are riding the asphalt. Definitely not as bad as some people claim. The front tire will barely wear at all.
>>2345710The shinko ones are a really good 50/50 tire. Probably the best you can get for the price if you want something that can handle highways, canyons and dirt. Not great in the sand but no dual sport tire is. I tried the kenda ones one time but they wore out a lot faster than the shinko tires.
>>2345447It depends on what kind of trails you are riding but i've found that the 90% road 10% dirt tires like that are kinda terrifying when there is any kind of descent because they just do not grip at all.
