This. Get off the rim and main overlooks and it's very low traffic.

Most public land is extremely low use. Most of it isn't terribly interesting though. Plenty of great spots in Utah and Colorado, like the San Rafael Swell.

There aren't any constructed hiking trails in the House Range. The BLM maintains almost no hiking trails in the west desert. They don't really need to since there's minimal use and you can basically cross country anywhere you want to walk.

If you're talking about Jeep trails then I'm not the one the ask. I'm just following major routes on USGS maps and the like.

You must be thinking of Oklahoma. Utah has the highest percentage of public land outside of Alaska and Nevada.

This is the view from an interstate rest stop in Utah. I've lived in California before and it has some awesome mountains but the deserts there don't quite compare. Tough to choose!
