Put a combi-bracelet on it and it's my favorite G-Shock still.
The "ILLUMINATOR" backlight, however, does fail over time.
I heard that Casio is thinking about phasing out the "ILLUMINATOR" backlights in favor of LED.
If this is true, then you might wait a year or two to get one with an LED.

Absolutely fantastic at night, though it can be hard to read indoors sometimes.
I agree with your over all logic which is why I have two of them.
Funny because I go for the A158 and F-91W first.
No matter, I love my G-Shocks and highly recommend them.
