>>1152251So I went and tried on a shit ton of packs today to learn what’d fit best. My top two choices for me are the Mystery Ranch Ravine 50 and The North Face Terra 65. I really like both, however, I didn’t really get a chance to put weight into the terra like I did the other packs because it was at cabelas and not the local camping shop. So I had an associate help me stick a 4lb sleeping bag and as many Coleman 1lb propane bottles (about 10) as we could fit in it. Here’s my notes
Ravine
Pros:
>A tad more comfortable on my back>A $250 pack for $180 at my local shop with a 15% off coupon I have ($153)>That third zipper that goes down the middle>definitely not too big for trips with m8sCons
>a few oz heavier (not a big deal)>may be too small for weeklong trips on my own?Terra
Pros:
>$180 on sale for $120>lighter>while not more comfortable, feels very good>no doubt big enough to take on trips by myself>cons:>possibly too big for certain trips?>not as comfortable, but still goodI guess the main concern that’s stopping me from going for the Mystery Ranch is that I don’t know if it’ll fare well for week/week and a half long trips. What do you guys think? This is babby’s first pack by the way.
