One of my pops' close friend is the head of a search and rescue program in my area(all retired firefighters/vets like my dad) and he spoke of a few times he ran into them. It's hard to place a lot of doubt on his stories due to his credibility and the fact that most of his buddies in the S&R program also believe in it. Hell, a guy I work with at my outfitter has extensively explored the Appalachian region(many places he should not have) and he would be the first to tell you were not alone.
