Mostly, you get out the way so the horse doesn't boot you in the head and kill you, or maybe trip and fall on you, etc. Depends on the horse. I used to ride in Central Park, and mommies would thread their carriages among us like there was no issue. If the trail is a designated bridle path then get out the way, pleb. If not then the rider should be the one who pulls over.
