>>299224I clibmed over car sized boulders to my original spot and retrieved my cached tent and camo net, thankfully undisturbed, headed back. Next I set up the tent. I layed down the ground mats, then the Russian blankets to prevent condensation with the floor. I finished tightening the ropes on everything as darkness descended.
I slept well. Camp hasn't changed much at all since then, with the exceptions I mentioned previously in the thread.
The next few days consisted of figuring out the details, like doing laundry in town, getting the gym membership etc. For two weeks before my membership began, I showered using baby wipes. Crude, effective, but unpleasent. They only get you so clean, and bathing in the quarry dugout at night with the wind and cold would be a hypothermia risk. I assembled the black trunk, packed in the few odds and ends I had left. I even took in a couple of feather pillows from my old bed, ha! They got mildewy though, so I packed them back out and chucked them in the dumpster, as I do with all my trash.
I hated travelling the first month, drying/waterproofing my boots every day at work. The weather was extreme, even for here, and navigating it all in the dark... But I learned how to deal with it, and once I did, I came to enjoy my time much more.
Lying about my situation was/is the hardest part. I'm not good at it, it goes against the grain, but some simply cannot know. Damn nosey people...
