That's not as bad as it sounds since it's always at least a second layer and usually a third, and only gets worn in cold weather so I haven't been sweating in it or anything, but it could probably use a wash. Can I just put it in the washing machine like a normal sweater, or do I need to hand wash it, get it dry cleaned, or what?

Same here. I have this one, dunno where it's from but it's definitely wool, definitely surplus, and I love it. I think it might be Dutch.

Aside from that I haven't found a lot of milsurp I like, in general it feels like if it was worth using the military would still be using it.
